More about Yashasvi Jaiswal
Bhupendra Jaiswal, the proprietor of a small hardware shop, and Kanchan Jaiswal, a housewife, welcomed Jaiswal into the world as the fourth of their six children. He relocated to Dadar, Mumbai, when he was 10 years old to attend Azad Maidan for cricket training. He moved from Dadar, which was distant from the Maidan, to the Kalbadevi area, where he was granted housing in a dairy business in exchange for menial labour. The shopkeeper finally asked him to leave since he was unable to contribute anything at the store while juggling his cricket practise. Jaiswal, who was homeless, shared a tent at the Maidan with the groundskeepers. There, he frequently went to bed hungry and sold panipuri to make ends meet.
Three years of living in tents later, Jwala Singh, who managed a cricket academy in Santacruz, discovered Jaiswal’s cricketing prowess in December 2013. Before taking over as Jaiswal’s formal guardian and acquiring his power of attorney, Singh took him under his wing and gave him a place to live.
