Taneja worked at PwC in India and the United States between July 1999 and March 2016, finally rising to the position of senior manager in assurance during her time there. In 2016, he became SolarCity’s corporate controller after joining the company.
Taneja was hired by Tesla, Inc. in February 2017 to fill the role of assistant corporate controller following the company’s acquisition of SolarCity. In May of 2018, he was given the position of controller for the corporation. Taneja took over for Dave Morton as the chief accounting officer in March 2019, when she was promoted to that position. In January of 2021, he was also appointed to the position of director of Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited, which has its headquarters in Bangalore. He took over as chief financial officer in August 2023, succeeding Zach Kirkhorn in the role.
