Suryakumar Yadav’s International Career:
SKY was included in the Twenty20 International (T20I) team for India’s series against England in February 2021. His first call-up to the India cricket squad was for an international match. On March 14, 2021, he played his first T20 International for India against England. On March 18, when he had his first opportunity to bat in an international match, he played the fourth game of the series. He struck the first ball he faced for a six, becoming the first Indian to do so in a T20 International, and went on to score fifty runs. He was included in India’s One Day International (ODI) team the following day for their series against England. At No. 3, he made game-changing plays that earned him the moniker “X Factor” player.
He was included in the Indian team for both the Twenty20 International (T20I) and One Day International (ODI) matches against Sri Lanka in June 2021. On July 18, 2021, he played his first ODI for India against Sri Lanka. Yadav defeated Sri Lanka on July 21, 2021, and then earned his first ODI fifty. On 30 October 2022, Yadav was ranked first in the ICC T20I rankings for batsmen.
Suryakumar Yadav was called up to the India Test team in July 2021 as a substitute for their series against England. Yadav was selected for the Indian team to compete in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021. He was included in India’s Test team in November for their series against New Zealand. He played his first Test match on February 9, 2023, against Australia at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.
Suryakumar Yadav’s IPL Career:
For the 2012 season, Mumbai Indians (MI) gave Surya an IPL contract. He only participated in one game throughout the season, and he was eliminated without scoring.
In the 2014 IPL auctions, Kolkata Knight Riders purchased him. He gained notoriety in the IPL 2015 when he defeated MI at Eden Gardens with a game-winning 20 ball 46 runs and five sixes. He played frequently and was named the team’s vice-captain. He was purchased by Mumbai Indians for 3.2 crore at the 2018 IPL auctions.
He was retained by the Mumbai Indians for INR 8 Cr. before the 2022 season super auction after a standout run with them. He was, however, unable to participate in IPL 2022 because of a left forearm injury.

Mumbai, Maharashtra, is where Surya was born. His uncle Vinod Yadav, who served as his first coach, encouraged him to begin playing cricket. He grew up in Mumbai. Surya picked up the sport while having fun in the Chembur neighbourhood. When he was ten years old, his father saw his interest in the sport and enrolled him in a cricket camp at the BARC colony in Anushakti Nagar. Later, he joined Dilip Vengsarkar’s Elf Vengsarkar Academy and participated in Mumbai’s youth cricket league. He attended Pillai College of Arts, Commerce, and Science before graduating.
For the Parsi Gymkhana Cricket Club in Mumbai, Suryakumar Yadav participated in club cricket. He had previously played club cricket in Mumbai for clubs like the Shivaji Park Gymkhana Club and the Dadar Union Club in addition to the Parsi Gymkhana squad and the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited team.
He was a veteran and consistent player for the Mumbai Ranji squad. He briefly served as the captain of the Mumbai cricket team during the Ranji Trophy. But he was ultimately chosen and named the tournament’s captain for the 2019–20 season by the MCA selection committee.
