On May 28, 2023, Sahil, an Indian refrigerator and air conditioner mechanic, brutally murdered a teenage girl Sakshi Reddy by stabbing her more than 20 times. Delhi was shaken by the killing of a young girl. Mohammad Sarfaraz, Sahil’s father, is a welder, and Sahil’s mother formerly owned a store. He has three sisters, two of whom are in school and one of whom is employed. Sahil’s father was also detained by Delhi police as they looked into the case.

On May 28, 2023, Sahil assassinated his girlfriend Sakshi by stabbing her 20 or so times with a knife in the Shahbad Dairy neighbourhood of Rohini, Delhi. Later, he repeatedly struck her head with a concrete block, six times. There were numerous onlookers who saw the incident in the CCTV footage that became widely shared online, but no one came to Sakshi’s aid. According to Police, most likely a disagreement between the two caused their separation, which later escalated into a violent attack. At the Shahbaad Dairy Police Station, Sakshi’s father has filed a case under section 32 of the Indian Penal Code. The mother of Sakshi is requesting that Sahi be put to death.
