Career Starting
When he was four years old, Babu went to the sets of the Telugu movie Needa (1979), where Ramesh, Dasari Narayana Rao’s brother, watched Dasari Narayana Rao shoot a few of his scenes for the story. He made his acting debut in 1999’s romantic comedy Rajakumarudu, which was also co-starring Preity Zinta and was directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. As a result of the movie’s commercial success, Prince became a popular nickname for him. In 2003, Babu released two films, the first of which was Gunasekhar’s Okkadu, in which Bhumika Chawla also starred and which went on to become the highest-grossing Telugu movie of the year.
Professional Career
For his performance in his subsequent movie, Arjun, which was produced by Ramesh and directed by Gunasekhar, Babu won his third Nandi Special Jury Award. He opted to appear in Trivikram Srinivas’ Athadu (2005), which also stars Trisha Krishnan and had a script that had been approved back in 2002, before Naani and Arjun’s filming had started. It became one of the top-earning pictures of the year. The movie served as a significant career boost for Babu, who earned his second Nandi Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of a hired assassin and gained his fourth Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actor – Telugu.
Then, in 2006, he worked with Puri Jagannadh on the movie Pokiri, which Jagannadh and Manjula both produced. The next year, Babu made her Telugu acting debut in the movie Athidhi with Amrita Rao. Ramesh, the brother of Mahesh Babu, produced the movie. Dookudu, a 2011 movie produced by Babu and Srinu Vaitla, was somewhat influenced by the 2003 German tragicomedy Goodbye, Lenin! The movie, which also features Samantha Ruth Prabhu, debuted to favourable reviews and quickly rose to the top of the box office. He later portrayed a mafia boss with a secret personal motive in the Puri Jagannadh-directed movie Businessman (2012), which also starred Kajal Aggarwal.
Sukumar’s 1: Nenokkadine, an action thriller about a celebrity who is experiencing hallucinations relating to the murder of his parents and the discovery of a unique variety of rice, was the first of Babu’s two 2014 films. In this movie, Kriti Sanon made her acting debut as the leading lady. His subsequent movie was the Koratala Siva-directed political action drama Bharat Ane Nenu (2018), which also starred Kiara Advani. He portrayed a chief minister in this movie. His 2020 film Sarileru Neekevvaru became one of the highest-grossing Telugu films after earning 260 crores at the box office worldwide.
