Simmons began her career as a model for Ford, after which she went on to model for other companies such as Bebe Stores, Roxy, J.C. Penney, and Saturn.
She made her debut in the acting world in 2010, playing the role of Quinn Whitaker on the online series Hollywood Is Like High School with Money, which was adapted from the book of the same name. She was also a guest star in an episode of the sitcom Zeke and Luther, which aired on Disney XD, and in the original movie Geek Charming, which aired on Disney Channel in 2011. In the same year, she also appeared in an episode of the sitcom Mr. Sunshine, playing a supporting part.
Simmons had starring roles in the films “Fat Kid Rules the World” and “Jane by Design” in 2012, the latter of which she appeared in as a guest star. In 2013, she had an appearance in an episode of Vegas and started playing the role of Rebecca Bowman, a defiant Amish girl, in the series Banshee, which airs on Cinemax. The producers of the show requested her to return to New York to read for the role of Rebecca when she was in Philadelphia for the burial of her grandmother. After the reading, she was cast in the role. She was featured in a photo that was published in Maxim magazine back in March of that year.
In 2014, Simmons began playing recurring parts on the television series True Detective as well as the show Hawaii Five-0. In April of 2016, she was cast in a part that was said to be a recurring one in another series called Westworld, despite the fact that she only featured in one episode during the first season of the show. Simmons was hired in the role of Natalie James, “the star of a big movie franchise,” in the fifth season of the drama series Ray Donovan, which airs on Showtime.
