Professional Career
Mr. Shettima was an employee at the Nigerian Agricultural Cooperative Bank for many years. He was the Head of Accounts for Commercial Bank of Africa and was stationed in Lagos at one point. Shettima was the manager of the Maiduguri branch of Zenith Bank by the middle of the 2000s. He left that job in 2007 to join the cabinet of Governor Ali Modu Sheriff of the state of Borno.
From 2007 through 2011, he worked as a Commissioner in a total of five different ministries. Shettima won victorious in the competition for Governor of the Year in 2014. On March 1, 2023, the results of the presidential election were announced, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that Bola Tinubu had won. As a result, Shettima was elected to serve as Nigeria’s Vice President.
