Bedi started his career in Indian theatre before transitioning to Hindi films. As a stage performer, Bedi has appeared in Tughlaq and Shakespeare’s Othello as a historical Indian king.Bedi portrayed the role of Gobinda, the villain’s aide, in the James Bond movie Octopussy. He has appeared in more than 50 Indian films. In the African epic Forbidden Territory from Hallmark and in Ken Follett’s On Wings of Eagles and Red Eagle, Bedi has made appearances on American television.He played Sandokan in the radio programme Chat, which was broadcast by RAI Radio2, in 2007. On political and social issues, Bedi frequently contributes to Indian publications like the Times of India and Tehelka. Bedi has been a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the organisation in charge of distributing the Oscars) since 1982. He is also a Screen Actors Guild vote-holder.
