Reid oversaw the daily online news and commentary site theGrio.com as managing editor. Reid worked as the 527 “America Coming Together” initiative’s Florida deputy communications director and served as a press assistant during the 2008 Florida campaign of President Barack Obama. In 1997, Reid started her journalism career. She quit her job as a business consultant in New York and relocated to South Florida to work on a morning show on WSVN Channel 7. Reid co-hosted Wake Up South Florida in 2006 and 2007.
MSNBC made the announcement in July 2020 that Reid would be hosting a new weekday commentary show called The ReidOut, which will originate from Washington and air at 7 p.m. Eastern time. In 2018, Reid was put forward for consideration for three different NABJ Salute to Excellence Awards. She was presented with the Carol Jenkins Visible and Powerful Media Award by the Women’s Media Centre in the year 2016.
