Due to a rib injury, star India pacer Harshal Patel will miss the fourth and fifth Twenty20 Internationals against the West Indies. Harshal has featured in 17 games since his T20I debut in November of last year. He last played on July 10 in Nottingham, during India’s match against England.
“Harshal Patel has not fully recovered from his rib injury and is ruled out of the remaining two T20Is against West Indies.”Statement from the BCCI
Harshal Patel doubtful for Asia Cup & World Cup
Harshal Patel most likely won’t play in the Asia Cup, and he won’t likely start for India in the T20 World Cup. The Indian pacer, a virtual expert in Twenty20 cricket known for his variety and deception in his bowling, is reportedly struggling with a side issue that could exclude him from consideration for selection.
The Indian squad for the Asia Cup will probably be announced on August 8. Harshal Patel might not feature in the list.
Harshal is currently in the US with the Indian Team who are playing against West Indies. After he returns to India, he will join the NCA for his recovery program.
Indian Squad without Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel was almost a certainty in the Indian T20 squad. His absence is a big blow for the team. But India’s pool of fast bowlers right now makes the selection job easier. In Harshal’s absence, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Chahar & Avesh Khan are the immediate options to choose from. That’s quite a formidable pace attack too!
