Professional Career
She participated in the Cults Percussion Ensemble, which was established in 1976 by her travelling percussion instructor Ron Forbes, and the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. In addition to writing and recording music for film and television, Evelyn has commissioned 133 brand-new works for solo percussion from some of the most renowned composers in the world (EG Composer). She was nominated for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards (BAFTAs), the UK equivalent of the Oscars, for her score from her first high-caliber drama.
Glennie gives solo performances with a wide range of orchestras and musicians all over the world. Evelyn Glennie is featured in the documentary Touch the Sound by renowned filmmaker Thomas Riedelsheimer. Evelyn performs with the world’s greatest musicians in more than 100 shows each year. For her contributions to music, Evelyn received the OBE (Officer of the British Empire) in 1993. She has since won more than 65 international awards.
