In 1999, Longoria received her very first television job. Longoria played Gabrielle Solis in the ABC comedy-drama Desperate Housewives beginning in 2003. She received a Golden Globe nomination in 2006 for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series.” She directed “An Ideal Husband,” the season two premiere of Devious Maids, starting in 2013 and served as one of the executive producers. The ABC comedy Black-ish’s third season finale was directed by Longoria in 2017. She launched the restaurant Beso in March 2008. She established the nonprofit organisation Eva’s Heroes in 2006 to support young adults with developmental disabilities.
The Eva Longoria Foundation, another one of her charities, works to close the education gap that Latinas face. Longoria enrolled in the Cal State University’s Chicano Studies and Political Science Master’s programme in 2009. A UK-based company called Richtopia ranked Longoria at number 42 on its list of the 200 Most Influential Philanthropists and Social Entrepreneurs in the World in March 2017. Longoria was one of seven Californians selected to serve as co-chairs of Barack Obama’s reelection effort in 2012.
