In addition to being the first female amputee in history to summit Mount Everest, Arunima Sinha was a former national football and volleyball player. Professional Career
Arunima desired joining in the paramilitary organisations. While travelling to Delhi after receiving a call letter from the CISF, she experienced her life-altering accident. She was injured severely when robbers grabbed her bag and pushed her out of the moving train (Padmavati Express). She received additional care at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where she stayed for almost four months. She received a prosthetic leg free of charge.
She made the decision to climb Mount Everest while still receiving treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. In 2011, she got in touch with Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to summit Everest. On May 21, 2013, she arrived at Mount Everest’s highest point. As a warm-up for her ascent of Everest in 2012, Sinha scaled Island Peak (6150 metres). Born Again on the Mountain, her 2014 book, became very much popular. She was given the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour, in 2015.
