Political reporter and anchor Andrew Kirtzman worked for WCBS-TV (CBS 2) in New York City for six years until April 2008. He wrote Betrayal: The Life and Lies of Bernie Madoff about the $65 billion Ponzi scam and “Rudy Giuliani: Emperor of the City,” about the former mayor’s turbulent tenure at City Hall. Kirtzman wrote about his breakfast with Giuliani on September 11, 2001, in his paperback book.
He presented WCBS-TV’s Sunday morning political program, Kirtzman & Co., which interviewed politicians and reporters. His 2003 Emmy for outstanding political programming was for “Kirtzman’s Column,” his weekly on-air piece. Before joining WCBS-TV, he was a senior political correspondent at NY1 and co-hosted ‘Inside City Hall’ for seven years. Political writer with the ‘New York Daily News’ for four years, covering City Hall.
During the 1997 mayoral and 1998 U.S. Senate races, he wrote ‘New York Magazine’s fortnightly Field Memo piece as a contributing editor. He was the city editor of the Hudson Dispatch in New Jersey and an investigative reporter for the Houston Post. Brill’s Content named Kirtzman one of New York’s 10 Most Influential Journalists in September 1999.
