Alan Graham Carr is an English comedian, broadcaster and writer. He was the eldest son of Christine and Graham Carr and was born on June 14, 1976, in Weymouth, Dorset. He spent much of his youth in Northampton.
Carr moved to Manchester after earning his degree in his early 20s with the goal of becoming a comedian. He first resided in Chorlton-cum-Hardy before relocating to Stretford, which he credits as the source of inspiration for his hilarious writing. Prior to making comedy his full-time profession, Carr spent five years working in a call centre and performing on the comic circuit in his spare time.

Professional Career
In 2001, Alan made a breakthrough by winning the BBC New Comedy Awards and City Life Best Newcomer of the Year. Prior to being well-known for co-hosting The Friday Night Project (2006–2009) with Justin Lee Collins, Carr’s career took off on the Manchester comedy circuit. This resulted in the 2008 release of the brief entertainment programme Alan Carr’s Celebrity Ding Dong, and he later starred in the Channel 4 comedic chat show Alan Carr: Chatty Man (2009–2016). Carr has frequently filled up as the team captain on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown since 2017. He was appointed a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK in 2019. He succeeded Fearne Cotton as anchor of the BBC’s Interior Design Masters in 2021.
In addition to publishing his autobiography book Look Who It Is! in 2008 and performing three arena stand-up comedy tours (Tooth Fairy Live in 2007, Spexy Beast Live in 2011, and Yap, Yap, Yap! in 2015), Carr hosted the radio programme Going Out with Alan Carr on BBC Radio 2 from 2009 to 2012. Carr has won a BAFTA TV Award (2013), two National Television Awards (2012, 2015), three British Comedy Awards (2007, 2008, 2013, and one in each of those years).
