Professional Career
Through his ongoing Janata Darbars, Shri Ajit Pawar maintains a close relationship with the general public. The first time he ran for election to the Lok Sabha was in 1991, and he won the election to represent the Baramati Constituency in Maharashtra. In 1982, Ajit won a seat on the board of directors of a sugar business that was organised as a cooperative. He has served as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Baramati Constituency on six separate occasions. As a result of Sharad Pawar’s return to the state in the role of Chief Minister, he was promoted to the position of Minister of State for Soil Conservation, Power, and Planning. Pawar was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra State with the BJP on November 23, 2019, despite not having the consent of his party.
He held the position for a total of fewer than 80 hours, making him the Deputy Chief Minister with the least amount of time in office. Lavasa was a dream project of Sharad Pawar’s, and in August of 2002, when he was the Minister of Water Resources, he allegedly leased 348.8 acres of property from the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation (MKVDC) to Lavasa. This land was located in the Krishna Valley of Maharashtra. He was implicated in a fraud that involved over 65,000 crore Indian rupees.
On 2nd July 2023, he again took oath as a Deputy CM in Maharashtra State Legislaive Assembly. Eknath Shinde is the present Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
