After the All India Trinamool Congress won the Assembly Election that same year, uprooting the Left Front government led by the Communist Party of India for 34 years, Abhishek Banerjee entered politics as a member of the party. When Abhishek Banerjee was chosen as the National President of the All India Trinamool Youth Congress in 2001, he was acknowledged as the organization’s youth icon.By defeating his closest rivals from the CPIM in 2014 and the BJP in 2019, he won the Loksabha Election from Diamond Harbour twice.The M.P. Cup Football Tournament had also been organised by him.
